The Summerside Western Capitals have signed defenceman Aiden Diamond, the team announced on Friday via social media.
Diamond, 20, spent last season with the Moncton Wildcats of the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) and recorded 10 assists in 33 games. The previous season (2024-25), Diamond picked up one assist in 12 games with the Wildcats, and appeared in 35 games with the West Kent Steamers of the MHL and scored three goals and 15 points.
The native of Stratford, P.E.I., was originally drafted by the Edmundston Blizzard in the ninth round, 104th overall in the 2022 MHL Entry Draft. His rights were traded from Edmundston to West Kent in September 2023, and then again from West Kent to Grand Falls in September 2025, before Summerside acquired his rights Jan. 2, 2026 from Grand Falls. The Capitals traded Conor Ryan and William Patey to Grand Falls to acquire Diamonds' rights along with Summerside's first-round pick in 2026 (which was later traded), a third-round pick in 2026 and future considerations.
The six-foot, 187-pound frame was drafted by the Rimouski Oceanic in the 12th round of the QMJHL Entry Draft, but was then traded to Moncton in August 2024.
In one and a half seasons in the MHL with West Kent, Diamond has scored 13 goals and 53 points in 86 games.
